Gold Coast (now Ghana) in the pre-colonial and colonial period, European-style coastal forts and castles were built, mostly by Portuguese, Dutch and British to trade in timber and gold but later used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.  The tour will concentrate on the four largest castles: Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle, Christiansburg Castle and Fort Ussher among the forty historical castles found in Ghana. These four castles are all UNESCO protected Heritage sites. Come and join us in this pre-colonial and colonial historical tour.
